Do you really need 8 glasses of water a day?
The famous '8 glasses a day' rule was never a real scientific finding.
There is no firm evidence that every adult needs exactly 8 glasses of plain water daily. Your total fluid comes from all drinks plus the water inside food, and how much you need shifts with body size, heat, and activity. Thirst is the body's built-in guide.
A bowl of pho, a glass of sugarcane juice, and the fruit you snack on already pour a lot of water into your day before you touch a single plain glass.
Drink when thirsty and count food and all drinks - no need to chase a fixed 8.
Knowing this saves you from forcing down water you do not need and from panicking when you miss a 'quota' that was never real.
8 glasses = a number someone rounded off, not a rule your body signed.
